About
Our toolkit, originally designed to support the Master-level Social Work students at the University of Minnesota, was created to engage peers and communities in the work of preparing for conversations around racial conciliation. This is particularly related to the proposal framed by Mark Charles, an indigenous activist and consultant, for a Truth and Conciliation Commission in 2021 to address white supremacy in the United States. Our toolkit is intentional in its aim to equip folks with tangible tools not only for their professional roles but also to disseminate to their informal relationships. By expanding discussions on race into facilitated conversations, we hope to enable differentiated spaces for white folks and People of Color to engage in their own self-liberation and the liberation of society as a whole. This project is a way to operationalize vital conversations on race with an intentional trajectory toward collective liberation and justice.
